Name: Mari
Age: 17
Appearance: Small frame - sweet, angelic face framed with curly brown hair. Large brown eyes that are picture perfect of her mother’s. Mari has just come into her own from being a gangly young girl into a beautiful young woman but her beauty is often covered in the grime and dust of travel and whilst she does have a very small frame, she is still much too thin. Her clothing is rather unusual, a patchwork mesh of material that hangs with inelegant limpness off her thin shoulders. Her cloak however, is rich. Thick wool, purple and blue hues combining at the top, turning darker towards the bottom which is embroidered prettily.
Personality:
Quite desperate and impressionable. Mari is alone and quite lost in herself. She is terribly gullible and innocent. Sadly, she is unskilled in taking care of herself and has no trade which makes her feel quite useless at times. Mari craves love - she wants nothing more than someone to care for her and despite her background, she has a strong respect of home, of family. Her home and family, however, have both been taken from her which is why she feels so lost in the world. Due to this, she comes across as clingy and needy. Prone to crying and childish fears and shows no sign of growing out of it.
She likes to smile and talk to people though she is much too trusting and does not see the bad side in people unless it is quite firmly displayed. She gives people the benefit of the doubt all the time and is far too forgiving.
Homeworld : Middle Earth
Race: Human.
-- Own Character --
History:
Mari is the only daughter of her mother, also named Mari, and was born in a dingy outskirts brothel near Rohan. Her mother was a ***** and told Mari that she was the daughter of a great warrior named Nikolai. Nikolai always denied his parenting the child and it never seemed to bother Mari much until her mother died. With no one to take care of her and being but a child still, still so young, Mari started to cling to her ‘father’… despite his rather forceful and often cruel treatment of her.
She has followed Nikolai around Middle Earth on his travels for the past 6 years - arriving at Minis Tirith only recently.
Job description: Servant in the fortress of Minis Tirith
Strengths & Weaknesses:
Very few strengths physically - Mari’s real strengths lie in her gentle and caring nature which, sadly, is also her greatest downfall. She is unable to take care of herself domestically and she is also unable to defend herself. So far she has managed to avoid any serious harm whilst following her ‘father’ around Britain. She likes to draw be it on discarded parchment or in the muck - her drawings bear no resemblance to anything in the real world, just a series of squiggles and chains.
Sample Post:
Mari sat on the wooden stool in the dimly lit room, a smile on her pretty face, looking at the dinner she had prepared for herself and her father. No matter how he treated her, she still looked forward to him coming home in the evening time. She had gotten the best lamb and the freshest cabbage to make the dish and it sat on the table, steaming hot.
And there it sat for another 2 hours.
Becomign a little restless and feeling disappointed that her dinner was now ruined, Mari rose to her feet and padded to the window in her bare feet, looking out to see if there was any sign of her father - though why she should see him from so high up, she did not know. Just as she reached the window, the door swung open and Kolya walked in.
Drunk.
Again.
"Father!" Mari exclaimed brightly. The man's blue eyes narrowed and he harumphed at the girl, slumping down into a chair at the table. He looked at the food and raised an eyebrow.
"You do all this?" he asked gruffly.
Mari felt such pride burning inside of her. She nodded her head, hands pressed to her stomach as she walked over to Kolya, standing by his shoulder as he took a testing taste of the lamb. It was tasty --
"It's cold." he muttered, taking another bite, mixing it in with the fresh, boiled cabbage.
Mari's smile faltered and her mouth opened, sorrow filling her eyes.
"Sorry." she whispered.
Oh Kolya did not expect such things from her! He had, in fact, told her not to make him dinners, not to even be there when he returned to the room, but she never quite got the message. He would rather not be reminded of the past and Mari was a walking reminder of his mistakes. She WAS a mistake. Maybe not HIS mistake but a mistake nonetheless. Wh0res were not meant to give birth.
Kolya polished off the meal and Mari smiled at him hopefully. How could she always be so high-spirited? So bloody positive and beaming?
The man shook his head and staggered over to the bed, flopping down on it heavily.
Mari went over to the window and continued drawing the Elvish runes she had seen decorating a pillar in the courtyard of Minis Tirith.
