Name: Faramir
Age: 30
Sex: Male
Appearance:
Faramir is shorter than his brother and of a slighter build. His appearance is altogether more scholarly than Boromir. He has reddish, shoulder length hair and wears a rather long red beard also. His eyes are a deep blue and he has quite a dominating nose.
Faramir rarely wears hard armour - favouring the attire of rangers instead, soft brown leathers and tree-green capes.
His body is toned, sinewy and impressive though to look at him you would not be inclined to think so. He wears a silver band on his index finger - a gift from Gandalf the Wizard. There is a large scar in his chest from when he was shot with an arrow during the retreat from Osgilliath.
Personality:
A gentle creature altogether.
Faramir is soft and handsome in nature, poetic and studious. He is fiercely loyal to his father, his brother and his wife, Eowyn. Though he is a capable warrior, Faramir much prefers ranging - or reading. He is understanding and patient, observant and forgiving.
Job Description:
Son of Denethor (no amount of money would make you take that job right?) & Capain of Gondor
Race:
Human - Gondor
Home World:
Middle-Earth
History:
Faramir is the brother of Boromir and the second child of Denethor II and Finduilas, daughter of Adrahil of Dol Amroth. His mother died in childbirth and his father became cold and distant, blaming Faramir. The relationship with his brother, Boromir only became stronger, closer while the one with his father deteriorated.
Faramir did not take naturally to fighting but he strove to impress his father and to spare his brother all the duties of a battling son of Gondor. He was just a boy when Mithrandir first came to Gondor and Faramir finally found a proper father figure in the old wizard. Gandalf, Mithrandir as Faramir knew him, taught him well - he instilled in Faramir a love of literature and a keen eye for observation.
When Boromir was sent to save Gondor, Faramir dreamt of his brother's death but did not have the heart to tell his father. When news came, Denethor was beside himself in grief and sent Faramir away immediately - scouting for any word of his son, to find his brother's body. Except Boromir was not dead!
Faramir was gravely wounded during the battle of Osgilliath. His father thought him dead and in his lunacy created a funeral pyre, almost killing the wounded Faramir and himself! It was only the hobbit, Pippin, who managed to save Faramir, with the help of Gandalf of course. Faramir lingered in agony for two more days before Aragorn came to Minis Tirith and healed him with athelas. It was during his recovery that he first met and fell hopelessly in love with Eowyn of Rohan.
She resisted his advances at first but eventualy came to love him... or so he thought. Faramir knew that he was always going to be second choice to Aragorn but was resigned to his fate, for he loved her so. However, their marriage has broken down now with Eowyn returning to Rohan and Faramir remaining in Gondor.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Intellectual but unable to stick up for himself. Excellent skill with a bow and arrow though he does lack that certain vim necessary to be a formidable warrior like his brother. He is still highly skilled of course, but is constantly compared to Boromir and comes up short all the time.
His father favours his brother.
His wife does not love him.
Weaknesses ahoy.

Sample Post:
Faramir enjoyed the mornings. They were always filled with such hope for the day and being the man that he was, he never predicted that things might not go his way. The white walls of Minis Tirith gleamed as the Captain made his way across the courtyard. His blue eyes shimmered with admiration as he looked at the blooming White Tree of Gondor. A burning swelling pride filled him and he gave a lopsided smile.
He was stopped short in his tracks, almost running over a messenger who handed him a missive from his wife.
Faramir winced and received the missive, tucking it into his leather breastplate to read at a later time. He had no wish to spoil the mornign just yet and no doubt Eowyn had some scathing comment or two to make.
He didn't know why she still wrote to him -- perhaps to make him feel puny, comparing him to her great and wonderful Aragorn. How could he, Faramir, possibly compare or hope to stand a chance when compared to the likes of Aragorn?
Pressing a hand to the door of his room, Faramir slung his bow and arrow down onto the bed and went to sit in the window, taking out the missive and running a tender finger over the seal. He still loved her --- adored her at least.
